New Haven Schools Receive Grants
Elementary, middle and high schools all received funds. The list of recipients is included.

UNION CITY, CA - Eight schools in Union City received over a dozen grants in May totaling almost $20,000 for their innovation and enrichment in the classroom as well as their tutoring programs, according to district officials.
The New Haven Schools Foundation continued their annual tradition and delivered 15 grants to teachers and classrooms, recognizing innovative ideas for learning that may not covered by normal classroom budgets, district officials said.
Both teachers and administrators in the New Haven Unified School District were able to apply for one of three grants in the month of March.

The types of grants were for, innovations in education, a classroom grant for teachers, project enrichment, a grant for co- and extra-curricular programs and lastly the Brian Kelly tutoring grant, awarded primarily to tutoring programs.
District officials said the money for the grants comes from donations to the Foundation and proceeds from fundraising events, and the funding for programs underwritten by the Brian Kelly program come from donations from the Kelly family.

The winners of this years grants were: Alvarado Elementary School, Cesar Chavez Middle School, Conley Caraballo High School, Hillview Crest Elementary School, Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle School, Kitayama Elementary School, James Logan High School and Pioneer Elementary School.
