New Homes, Businesses In Union City
The Mayor, Chief Building Official and Deputy Fire Marshal toured the projects.

UNION CITY, CA — You don't have to look too hard around town to see major new developments in progress.
Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci, Chief Building Official Lonell Butler and Deputy Fire Marshal Stan Fernandez toured four new facilities at the end of last month.
Butler, who is in charge of building permitting and planning reviews for new and existing construction, said, “I have a passion for what I do and I love helping people reach their goals. When people walk through my door and have a dream of remodeling/building something, our job is to help them cross that finish line.”

More housing is being constructed at The Sugar Mill, where 36 new electric and solar-powered townhomes are being built. Some will have ground floor space for commercial businesses.

The tour closed at The Station, named for its close proximity to Union City’s BART Station. The 31,000 square feet commercial building will house a Dialysis clinic on the first floor, and artificial intelligence company Vicarious will be on the second floor.
