Pair Busted Allegedly Swiping Wire From PG&E Box Near Ben Rodgers Park

A citizen spotted them and called police. Wiring was cut and removed from several light poles around the Milpitas park, officers said.

MILPITAS, CA - Two men were arrested last week for allegedly stealing copper wire from a Pacific Gas & Electric Co. unility box near Ben Rodgers Park in Milpitas.

A citizen called police at 11:51 p.m. Feb. 18 to report the pair behaving suspiciously near the light pole and the light going out, the Milpitas Police Department said.

Officers arrived and found one suspect, Raymond Eliegh Willman, 29, of Manteca, hiding in a bush, and caught the other, Adam Martinez, 40, of San Jose, as he attempted to flee, police said. Officers also located a bundle of freshly cut copper wire in the park and realized copper wiring to several light poles in and around the park was cut or damaged.

Willman, currently on Post Community Release Supervision for domestic violence, was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for suspicion of grand theft, felony vandalism, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation. Martinez was booked at the jail, as well, for suspected grand theft, felony vandalism, conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
