UNION CITY, CA — A parolee who had been imprisoned for manslaughter was arrested last week by Union City Police on suspicion of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and firearms charges. The person's name was not released by police.

Patrol officers were sent to the area of Alvarado-Niles and Decoto roads to investigate a report of a person threatening people with a handgun. The suspect was gone when officers arrived, but a description of the suspect and getaway vehicle were broadcast to other officers.

The vehicle was spotted in the area and officers conducted a high-risk stop. The suspect was taken into custody. Officers report that they located a loaded semiautomatic handgun that was used to threaten the victims.
