Shoeless Bike Rider Arrested For Vehicle Theft
Police say the suspect left his work boots at the scene of the crashed, stolen vehicle.

UNION CITY, CA — An observant Union City Police officer arrested a suspect last week after putting together the pieces in a crime puzzle.
Jonathan Green was arrested Oct. 27 on suspicion of vehicle theft and resisting arrest, according to the Union City Police Department.
On Oct. 27 at 10:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 31800 block of Alvarado Boulevard on a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told police he briefly left his car running in the parking lot, and it was gone when he returned a few minutes later.

The vehicle was located about a mile away after it was involved in a crash with a parked car.
Police found work boots outside the vehicle. A short time later, officers made contact with a shoeless man
riding a bicycle in the area.

The suspect, identified as Green, was in possession of some of the victim's stolen property.
