Suspect Arrested in Connection with Robbery During Alleged Drug Deal

UNION CITY, CA: A San Leandro man was arrested last week in Union City in connection with a robbery during an alleged drug deal. Khoi Tran, 32, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of marijuana. Officers responded on Feb. 26 to a report of a robbery in the Union Landing shopping center.

The victim told officers she was robbed and was able to give them a description on the suspect and the license plate number of his vehicle. Officers located the suspect, identified as Tran, and discovered a large bag of marijuana and items indicative with the sale of marijuana in the vehicle, police said.

Investigators determined the suspect knew the victim, and the robbery occurred as the victim was about to buy marijuana from the suspect. Police said there was an argument, and the suspect snatched money out of the victim's hand and fled the area.
