UNION CITY, CA — A homeless encampment fire in Union City spread to surrounding vegetation and the parking lot at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, where some vehicles were burned, according to the Alameda County Fire Department. No injuries were reported, and no buildings were damaged. The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters and two fire engines from Fremont joined the battle to keep the fire from spreading further.
