Union City Business Wins Minority Manufacturer of the Year Award

Have you ever heard of United Mechanical and Metal Fabricators? They've just won a big honor.

UNION CITY, CA - President-elect Donald Trump made the economy the central theme of his election, promising to bring good paying manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. to help the middle class.

Gina Wang, CEO of United Mechanical and Metal Fabricators (UMEC), doesn't need any encouragement from politicians - she was recently honored as Minority Manufacturer of the Year by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

UMEC has two facilities, in Union City and Hayward, and 75 employees who manufacture equipment for medical devices, transportation, aerospace, and technology. Under Wang’s leadership, UMEC expanded to an 18,000-square-foot machine shop in Union City and provides high-paying jobs to its employees.
