Union City Firefighters Deploy To Wildfire

They're in Plumas County, where the town of Quincy is threatened.

UNION CITY, CA — Firefighters from Station 30 in Union City, aboard Engine 330, and Engine 318 from Dublin deployed to the Minerva Fire in Plumas County Sunday as part of Strike Team XAL 2007C.

The Minerva Fire started Saturday and has burned a little over 1,000 acres. It's threatening the town of Quincy, where firefighters and trucks have been stationed to defend the community, if necessary. Firefighters are contending with record high temperatures and afternoon winds.

According to the Plumas National Forest Incident Page, " The fire is burning in Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, cedar, black oak, and manzanita."
