Union City Homicide Victim Identified

The woman was stabbed to death last week at a 55+ mobile home park by a 21-year-old man from Mountain View.

UNION CITY, CA — A woman fatally stabbed in Union City last week has been identified as 63-year-old Jeanine Cowger, police said Wednesday.

A 21-year-old Mountain View man, Carlos Daniel Hernandez, was arrested following the stabbing that was reported at 7:46 a.m. last Thursday in the 33000 block of Almaden Boulevard, according to Union City police.

Officers responded and found three stabbing victims. Cowger was pronounced dead at the scene while the other two victims were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.

Police have not released any details about what led to the stabbing or how they identified Hernandez as the suspect.

Cowger posted frequently on social media about dog agility sports and a friend said in a post that Cowger's dogs were being cared for by her siblings after the "senseless act of violence" that led to her death.
