Union City Man Arrested for Burglary

An alert neighbor phoned police when they observed suspicious behavior.

UNION CITY, CA - Police arrested a 22-year-old man and a juvenile on suspicion of burglarizing a home in Menlo Park.

Police received a call at 9:39 a.m. Thursday from a resident who said two suspicious people were lurking in the 100 block of Oak Court. The resident said the two suspects first knocked at the front door to the home and when no one answered they went around back.

Officers responded and found the home’s back door open, but when officers searched the home they did not find the suspects, police said.

Officers then saw the two hiding in the front yard of a home in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue, according to police. The two were taken into custody and police recovered some stolen property.

Officers arrested Union City resident Markeese Crooks and a 17-year-old. Police booked Crooks into the county jail and the youth into juvenile hall.
