Murder Victim Identified, Suspect Arraigned In Union City Killing

The names of both the suspect and victim were released on Tuesday.

UNION CITY, CA — Union City Police have identified the woman arrested for first degree murder as Sara Chereji, 56, of Union City. She is accused of killing her husband, 56-year-old Sorin Chereji, in the family home on Feldspar Court late Sunday.

Sara Chereji was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday and possibly enter a plea. In addition to first degree murder, Chereji is charged with multiple weapon enhancement charges.

According to police, Chereji shot her husband multiple times at their home in the 4300 block of Feldspar Court around 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Alameda County Fire Personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Besides the couple, there was one other person in the house at the time of the shooting. Police have not announced who the third person was at the scene.
