Union City Names New Police Chief

"I am very excited about the opportunity to serve a police department and community that means so much to me."

UNION CITY, CA — Jared Rinetti has been named the new police chief of Union City after an appointment by the city manager and unanimous approval from the City Council this week, city officials said.

Rinetti was a captain with the department for the last five years and started working there in 2000.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to serve a police department and community that means so much to me," Rinetti said in a statement. "For nearly 20 years, I have partnered with amazing men and women to improve the safety and quality of life in Union City."

Rinetti has a bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice and is working on a master's of science in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego. He will start work as chief on Saturday and is scheduled to make a $231,672 base salary annually, city officials said.
