Union City Police Arrest 2 Gang Members For 2011 Murder
One was arrested in Texas where he remains in custody. A third suspect is still on the loose.

UNION CITY, CA - Union City Police arrested two gang members for the murder of 49 year old Ruben Partida almost five years to the day after the killing, according to Union City Police Lt. Steve Mendez.
Partida was gunned down in front of his home on Whipple Road on May 17, 2011. On May 3rd, 2016, Victor Medeiros and Noel Cruz were arrested on murder charges. Detectives traveled to El Paso, Texas to arrest Medeiros, while Cruz was already serving time in a California prison for an unrelated crime. Medeiros remains in custody in El Paso awaiting extradition to California.

According to Lt. Mendez, Partida had received death threats from the gang prior to his murder.
The Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, the El Paso Police Department, and the Union City Police Investigations Unit all collaborated on the investigation.
