Union City Police Arrest Suspected Burglar

There were six vehicle burglaries reported last week.

UNION CITY, CA — Union City Police arrested 33-year-old Cuong Nguyen of Hayward last weekend.

Nguyen was pulled over for a traffic stop by Officer Moreno at around 8:45 a.m. He was found to be in possession of a shaved key. Nguyen was arrested for the possession of burglary tools.

Police report that from Monday, August 28 through Sunday, Sept. 3, there were no reported residential burglaries.

Unfortunately, during that same time frame, there were six reported auto burglaries and two attempted burglaries. Four of the burglaries were at the Union Landing shopping center, while two were in residential areas. According to police, "Most of the Union Landing incidents involved backpacks and purses that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards."
