Union City Police Make Concealed Weapon Arrest
A suspect was taken into custody in the area of Whipple Road and Hayman Street.

UNION CITY, CA — A traffic stop turned into an arrest in Union City Sunday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., Union City Police officers Jesenia Chavez and Dan DeJong were patrolling the area of Whipple Road and Hayman Street when they pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation.
According to a social media post from the police department, "When they stopped the vehicle, they contacted the driver and saw the handle of a loaded handgun wedged in between the driver seat and the center console. Officer Chavez and Officer DeJong worked together to safely take the driver into custody without incident and arrested him for the gun charge."
