Union City Police Officer Injured By Driver
The officer was taken to a hospital for his injuries. The driver abandoned his car nearby.

UNION CITY, CA - Police are asking for the public's help locating a suspect who was driving a car that hit and injured a Union City police officer Tuesday in Hayward, police said today.
The officer suffered minor injuries at 5:07 p.m. at the intersection of Hesperian and Industrial boulevards as he was getting off of his motorcycle to make a traffic stop.
The officer was taken to a hospital, police said.

Police said the officer, whose name is not being released now, was stopping the suspect for vehicle code violations in Union City.
Police allege that the suspect is a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds and wearing a black jacket, blue T-shirt, baggy black jeans and black shoes.

The suspect was driving a black, late 90s Ford Crown Victoria, which was recovered in an adjacent neighborhood, according to police.
