Union City Police Plan DUI Checkpoint
The location of the checkpoint has not been announced.

UNION CITY, CA — The Union City Police Department plans to hold a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Dec. 18 at an undisclosed location in Union City.
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on an area's history of crashes and arrests being linked to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, police said, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
The Union City Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving isn't only caused by drinking alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with one's ability to drive. It's recommended that drivers follow directions when taking medications and heed warning labels about "driving or operating heavy machinery," which includes driving a car.
