UNION CITY, CA — There's a joke decades old — Why did the geese cross the road? Answer: to get to the other side — that a gaggle of local geese decided to update. Jan Bielawski snapped this photo on Alvarado Niles Road near DeCoto Road.

Jan reports, "They walked very deliberately, no signs of apprehension. Wonder why they didn't just fly across?"
