Woman Killed by Amtrak Train is Identified

The collision happened Tuesday evening

A woman who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Hayward on Tuesday evening has been identified by the Alameda County coroner’s office as 44-year-old Michelle Borrerro.

Hayward police said officers found Borrerro when they responded to reports that a woman had been struck by a train on the tracks south of Industrial Parkway West at about 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Hayward police Lt. Jeff Lutzinger said. The collision happened on the tracks where Amtrak had the right of way, according to Lutzinger.

The train stopped and unloaded passengers, who were shuttled away from the scene, he said.
