Place-: --This week, the in-person location is Kaiser Hospital Bldg. A, Vallejo on the 3rd floor meeting room. Directions, pass the piano & take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Exit left out of the elevator, left at the hall, go past the gym and left at the hall and walk down the long corridor to the meeting room.

What is Impromptu Speaking.
From workplace conversations to social situations and community roles, the ability to speak clearly and confidently without preparation is one of the most practical communication skills you can develop. At Toastmasters, impromptu speaking, what we call Table Topics, is practiced at each meeting. Yes, it can be daunting, even for the most experienced Toastmaster, but it is a trainable skill that we actually use every day.
Let’s look at what impromptu speaking really is, why it is so important, and how it applies directly to everyday life, not only the Toastmasters meeting room.
### What Is Impromptu Speaking?
Impromptu speaking is speaking with little or no preparation. In Toastmasters, it is most commonly practiced through Table Topics, where a speaker is given a question and asked to speak for 60 seconds.
Outside Toastmasters, impromptu speaking happens constantly. You might recognize it in moments such as:
- Being asked for your opinion in a meeting
- Responding to a follow-up question during a presentation
- Introducing yourself or someone else unexpectedly
- Handling a difficult or unplanned question
- Speaking at a social event, interview, or community meeting
