Homeless Man Found Dead on Bench in Venice

A homeless man was found dead shortly before 8 a.m. Friday on Ocean Front Walk near Windward Avenue, police said.

The coroner's office said that no foul play was suspected. The man was estimated to be in his early 70s.

"He sleeps in that part of Ocean Front Walk," said Sgt. Richard Parks of the LAPD's Pacific Division. Parks said that friends of the deceased were talking to him late Thursday night, as he was getting ready to go to sleep, and "he was next seen on the boardwalk, passed away."

The man's age and identity had not yet been confirmed by the coroner's office. His identity will be withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

"Attendants didn't notice anything out of the ordinary," Parks said. "He most likely passed away of natural causes."
