Venice Dad's Leg Amputated After Saving Daughter From Crash

The man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries to his leg, which required amputation.

VENICE, CA — A 38-year-old father from Venice is recovering after suffering serious injuries from being struck by a pickup truck that lost control and almost hit his daughter.

Jordan Stannard told KTLA he only had a split second to act when he noticed the truck careen into his direction with his 2-year-old daughter Sadie.

"My first thought was 'Get Sadie into a safe place,' so I basically threw her into the cabin of my car," Stannard told KTLA.

Stannard was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries to his leg, which required amputation, and will be fitted with prosthetics.

Stannard, who is a marathon runner and an Ironman competitor, is expected to be released from the hospital soon. His journey to recovery is just beginning but he said he still wants to run in 2027 the Los Angeles Marathon, which he had already been registered to compete in before the collision, KTLA reported.

"We know Jordan's strength and determination will carry him through, but the challenges facing him and his family are immense," a GoFundMe page for Stannard read.

The GoFundMe was set up to help Stannard and his family with medical expenses.
