Firework Set Off At Venice High Prompts Fire Department Response

VENICE, CA — Someone set off a firework Monday at Venice High School, but no one was injured.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded about 11:40 a.m. to the school at 13000 West Venice Boulevard after light smoke was reported on the school's first floor, according to department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

Thicker smoke was found in the second floor, but there was no active fire and no injured parties were found, Middleton said, adding that crews were informed someone set off a firework on the second floor.

Firefighters helped clear smoke from the building, Middleton said.

Summer classes are currently being taught at the school.
