Beach Hazards May Halt Venice Weekend Plans

The National Weather Service has issued beach hazards which will last through the weekend.

VENICE, CA — The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for Ventura County coasts, Los Angeles County Coasts, and Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands which will remain in effect through Sunday evening. The hazards include possible minor tidal overflow and beach erosion due with a large high tide every evening through the weekend. Rip current activity may increase multiple hours before and after the time of the high tide.

The high tides will occur between 7:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. tonight, and between 7:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. tomorrow evening. This weather may cause pooling of sea water on beach and harbor areas which are uncommon with normal tide ranges. Some beach parking lots and harbor walkways may even see minor flooding, according to National Weather Service.
