UPDATED: Bomb Squad Investigates Grenade in Mar Vista Backyard
A grenade found in the backyard of a home on Ocean Avenue in Mar Vista triggered a bomb squad investigation.

An inert grenade caused a scare in a Mar Vista neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
The grenade was found in the backyard of a home on the 3500 block of Ocean Avenue near Washington Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Matthew Ludwig.
The department received the call at about 3:15 p.m., and the bomb squad declared the area safe by 5 p.m., added Ludwig.
