Beijing National Day School Delegation Visits Windward

On Tuesday, September 25, Windward hosted 30 teachers and administrators from Beijing National Day School. The group spent the day on campus observing classes and speaking with Windward School's faculty and administrators about their work. The primary goal of the delegation was to explore curriculum development and pursue possible cooperative ventures between BNDS and Windward.

Currently, BNDS has nearly 4,000 students in Grades 7-12 from all over the world. The major programs consist of Chinese secondary school education curriculum, Cambridge A-level, AP and pre-IB high school curriculum taught by U.S. international and Chinese teachers, and courses for international students who want to study Mandarin Chinese or prepare to study in Chinese universities. These courses are conducted by experienced and professional Mandarin teachers and tailored for students with different levels of proficiency in Chinese.

The opportunity to observe Windward teachers allowed BNDS teachers to identify differing teaching styles and classroom procedures that they believe can benefit and help shape their own teaching methods.

"Hosting this delegation from the Beijing National Day School was an honor," said Eryn Hoffman, Windward's Director of Global Programs. "Not only did we have a chance to show off our program, students, and faculty, but we also got a chance to explore what a partnership with this school could mean for Windward. We are excited to continue the dialogue with BNDS and to send our own delegation of Windward faculty there soon."
