HAWTHORNE, CA - The hectic homeward commute turned into a nightmare for thousands of drivers Thursday evening when a brush fire closed all lanes of traffic in both directions of the San Diego Freeway, 405, near El Segundo Boulevard in Hawthorne.
Los Angeles County firefighters got the fire out a quickly as possible and traffic is again flowing. But it will take a long time to clear the backup.
