Burglar Enters Mar Vista Home With Resident Inside
'Hot prowl' burglars strike in Pacific Division.

A burglar entered a Mar Vista property in the 3400 block of Ashwood Avenue Monday night when someone was home, according to a Facebook post from the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division.
"Luckily the bad guy was only out to take loot and not interested in harming the family," according to the post.
Police report that the suspect entered the home through an unlocked back door.
"A potentially dangerous situation like this could be avoided by simply locking your doors. Take the extra few minutes to ensure all your doors and windows are locked before you go to bed..." according to the post.
Another "hot prowl burglary" took place several days earlier in the 7300 block of Trask Ave. in Playa del Rey, according to the same Facebook page. "Hot prowl" means the intruder enters the home while someone is inside.
The Trask Avenue burglar entered through an unlocked upstairs balcony door and fled with the victim's property.
"Please lock your doors and windows. Many of these crimes can be prevented by simply using your locks. Lock all doors and windows that are not located in the room that you are sleeping in. Luckily the victim was not harmed, but beware there are bad guys lurking at all hours and in all neighborhoods trying to take the things you worked so hard to get."
