The Scoop: Culver City resident and Moth StorySLAM Champion Miyo is taking over the local stage this May with a weekend of high-energy storytelling and comedy. After her February premiere of "How To Die In Japan" sold out in less than 36 hours, Miyo is bringing the production back to The Fanatic Salon for two encore performances on May 2nd and 3rd.
The Show:
How To Die In Japan is a hilarious and moving dive into the rigid world of Japanese etiquette, family chaos, and the bewildering rules of "passing on." From cultural minefields to side-splitting study of Time, Place, and Occasion (TPO), Miyo contrasts the meticulous customs of her native Japan with the "casual chaos" of American life.

This isn't just a solo show—it’s a multimedia event. Miyo is joined on stage by award-winning composer Michael D. Mortilla (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), whose live original score acts as a second character in the performance.

The Venice Beach Half Marathon &amp; 5K, presented by goodr, returns Sunday, May 17, 2026, bringing thousands of runners, walkers, and joggers to the iconic streets of Venice to raise money for local schools. The scenic course passes Ocean Front Walk, Muscle Beach, the Venice Canals, and Abbot Kinney Blvd. before finishing beneath the legendary Venice Sign. Runners will be welcomed with a finish line celebration featuring live music, interactive brand activations,&nbsp; photo ops, and more.
Participants can choose from the Half Marathon, 5K, 1-Mile Youth Jog &amp; Family Walk, or the crowd-favorite “Grunion Run” for kids. All participants receive an event shirt, finisher medal, and race bib. Registration is now open.

Join Kids On Stage this summer for our fun-filled Summer Camps! Each camp brings something new!&nbsp; Camps are a joyful, inspiring place for youth and teen actors to explore, create, and shine on stage.
Kids On Stage (since 1987!) offers high-quality musical theatre camps in a supportive, non-competitive setting. Each thoughtfully themed camp blends acting, singing, movement, and ensemble fun with guidance from experienced theatre professionals.
Campers work closely with a professional teaching artist who guide campers to help develop theatre and performance skills, vocal performance, and movement, while enjoying a joyful exploration of a popular musical theme.
