Oakwood - African American Art History Initiative

Event Details

Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 90291

You are invited to be part of something historic.

On Saturday, June 27th, Collective UNBound, in partnership with the Getty Conservation Institute and the City of LA's Office of Historic Resources, is hosting our first community workshop as part of African American Historic Places LA (AAHPLA), a citywide initiative to identify, celebrate, and protect Black heritage across Los Angeles.

Oakwood is one of LA's last remaining Black coastal communities. Fewer than 2% of national landmarks represent African American heritage. This project exists to change that, and it starts with you.
