Census Is Hiring In Los Angeles County For $17-21 Per Hour
The job offers flexible hours and pays well above minimum wage.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring workers across the United States and Puerto Rico as the agency prepares for the 2020 Census.
According to the agency, most of the job openings are for Census takers, but clerical positions are also available in areas where there are local offices. There are also a few supervisory and recruiting outreach positions.
Pay for the positions varies based on location. In Los Angeles County, positions with the bureau for the 2020 Census pay between $17-$21 per hour for office and Census taker positions. The Census office in Los Angeles County is in Woodland Hills.

The agency said Census takers are also reimbursed for work-related mileage and expenses.
To apply for temporary work with the agency, potential employees must meet the below qualifications:

- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid Social Security number
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a valid email address
- Complete an application and answer assessment questions (Some assessment questions are available in Spanish but applicants might also have to take an English proficiency test)
- Be registered with the Selective Service System (the draft) or have a qualifying exemption if you’re a man born after Dec. 31, 1959
- Pass a Census-performed criminal background check and a review of criminal records, including fingerprinting
- Be available to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and weekends
