Chase Ends With Police Tasing Suspect In Crowded Beach Lot
A domestic violence suspect led police on a chase through two counties, winding through the South Bay to Venice.

VENICE, CA — Police officers tased and tackled a domestic violence suspect amid a crowd of beachgoers in Venice Friday afternoon following a high speed chase across two counties.
The chase began in Orange County and continued through the South Bay to Venice, where a shirtless and shoeless man stopped at a busy beach parking lot and exited the car. That's when officers hit him with the stun gun.
It had been a fraught chase with officers concerned the man was heavily armed. According to ABC7 Eyewitness News, the alleged domestic violence victim had informed police that the suspect and multiple weapons with him.

The chase began with the domestic violence call in Placentia. California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit, which continued up the 405 Freeway often veering onto the shoulder of the road and into the carpool lane. The driver exited in Torrance where he was hampered by sidestreet beach traffic through the South Bay. He eventually ran out of room to run in the crowded Venice Beach area.
