The California Highway Patrol has agreed to a $1.5 million settlement with a woman assaulted by an officer on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, it was reported tonight.
Officer Daniel Andrew has agreed to resign in connection with the settlement of a federal civil rights lawsuit, the Los Angeles Times reported, based on an announcement by CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow.
“Today we have worked constructively to reach a settlement agreement that is satisfactory to all parties involved,” Farrow said.

Andrew, who joined the CHP in 2012, may still face criminal charges, The Times reported.
The assault on Marlene Pinnock, a 51-year-old who suffers from bipolar disorder was recorded by music producer David Diaz of Inglewood.

“It’s a great feeling to know you have brought justice to a lady who had no voice,” Diaz said in an interview with NBC4.
