Cyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run In Venice; Suspect Sought

VENICE, CA — A woman cycling in Venice was killed in a hit-and-run early Friday and police are now looking for the suspect, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division.

The cyclist was reportedly riding in circles in the middle of the intersection near Pacific and Rose avenues about 3:05 a.m. Friday when she was struck by a vehicle heading northbound on Pacific Avenue, police said.

The driver drove northbound on Pacific Avenue and didn't stop to identify who they were, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the bicyclist to a hospital where she died. Her name was not released pending the notification of her family.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. The investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a felony hit and run suspect.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a black, large-sized SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban, police said.
