For the last four years, third-generation Los Angeles native MIKE SONKSEN aka MIKE THE POEThas been teaching and mentoring teenage writers at View Park Preparatory Accelerated Charter High School in the Crenshaw District. Several of his students have won awards and received scholarships for their writing talent. Twelve teen poets from both current View Park students and alumni will be performing their poems along with Mike. The teen poets have a great chemistry with each other as well as their teacher. They have already rocked with Mike at the Stella Adler Conservatory, Leimert Park Book Fair, and other venues around town. The View Park writers fight the good fight. This promises to be a spirited night. The reading will be celebrating the release of VIEWS FROM VIEW PARK, the fourth volume of View Park Poetry.
