Funeral Services to Be Held for Shooting Victim

Venice has had a string of gorgeous days, which are expected to keep going. Highs are in the mid-70s, cooling over the weekend to the high 60s.

Memorial and church services will be held this week for Salvador Diaz Jr., one of the victims in the . The memorial service is Thursday from 3-9 p.m. at McCormick Mortuary, 635 Prairie Ave. in Inglewood. A slide show will be shown at 5:30 p.m. and the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Church services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Anastasia Church, 7390 Manchester Ave. in Westchester.

LAPD officers said they arrested a man with two stolen bicycles at the corner of Lincoln Boulevard at Mindanao Way on July 4. The bikes were a women's silver and purple Huffy "Stone Mountain" 18-speed and a men's black Urban Firmstrong beach cruiser with a basket. Yours? Contact Pacific Division at 310-482-6333.

A documentary filmmaker in Venice is looking for an intern. From the listing (via USC's Annenberg School), "In the film my aunt Yetta reluctantly reveals her surprising tale of teenage activism in 1920s Los Angeles. She and her friends flew a red flag over a summer camp and made free speech history—laying important groundwork for our right to protest and dissent." School credit may be offered.
