Google To Open Major Westside Campus
Google inked a deal to lease a massive campus to be constructed at the former Westside Pavilion shopping mall.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Google Inc. is planning a massive West Los Angeles campus, the company announced Tuesday.
The tech giant lease the entirety of the One Westside redevelopment, an off campus that to be built at the former Westside Pavilion shopping mall. The move, in addition to more than 500 tech startups, further solidifies Silicon Beach's status as a major technology hub.
The planned campus will be 584,000-square-feet, and construction is expected to begin later this year. According to the agreement, Google would be expected to assume its approximately 14-year lease upon completion of construction and tenant improvements in 2022.

"We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Google, and are proud to support this significant phase of their growth," said Victor Coleman, chairman and CEO of Hudson Pacific Properties. "Google's selection of One Westside demonstrates the strength of the Los Angeles tech and media industries, and exemplifies the type of creative office space that is in demand from large tech and media tenants."
The former mall will be transformed into office space, with a fraction of entertainment retail space, according to a deal announced in early 2018 between Hudson Pacific Properties and Macerich.

Designed by architecture firm Gensler, the project will feature rooftop amenity space with a garden deck and direct bridge access to the Landmark Theatre and retail shops.
RG Kahoe, Google's Real Estate Project Executive for the Southwest, said, "Google's been a proud member of the Los Angeles community since 2003. We're excited to continue investing in the community as part of Hudson Pacific and Macerich's adaptive reuse project at One Westside."
