High End Burgers Keep Venetians Coming Back to 26 Beach

This Venice restaurant has been serving up an eclectic mix of dishes for more than a quarter century.

The menu at 26 Beach is as diverse as Venice is – which perhaps accounts for why it is celebrating its 26th year in our neighrborhood.

For locals, though, 26 Beach is best know for its generous burgers. All the hamburgers are 100 percent Angus beef except for the Namaste “Veggie” Burger made with grains, legumes, vegetables. There are some strange burger combinations like the California roll burger, a meld of avocado, nori, crab salad, ginger and wasabi. One popular dish is the hot fudge sundae burger with fudge, bacon, almonds and a vanilla ice cream. TMy favorite is the King Kobe the IV, with a half pound of beef,  applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, baby mixed greens, tomato, red onion and mayonnaise on a homemade brioche bun. It’s big enough for two.

Another house specialty is the French toast, including the croissant apple cinnamon, and for the more adventurous those flavored with Reese's Pieces or tiramisu.

The menu also includes chicken, filet mignon, ribs, and fish. I recommend the Chilean sea bass. Moist and tender, it’s served with rice, black beans and salsa.

Service is friendly, and although the restaurant is popular, the wait never seems to be long. Parking is a bit of hassle and the prices aren’t cheap. Expect to spend between $15 - $19  for a hamburger.
