A 48-year-old transient pleaded no contest to attempted murder Friday for the 2018 shooting.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A homeless man pleaded no contest to attempted murder Friday for opening fire outside a bar in Venice, wounding another man in an attack caught on cellphone video.
Robert Leo Mewhorter, 48, admitted to allegations that he used a gun and caused great bodily injury during the March 7, 2018, attack, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The shooting began with a bar fight. Mewhorter left the bar after getting into an argument with a man, returned soon after and opened fire, injuring the other man, according to prosecutors.
