Man, 24, Killed in Venice Hit and Run

BREAKING: Police are asking for help finding a driver who killed a young man in Venice Thursday and fled the scene of the accident.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- A 24-year-old man was struck and killed Thursday by a hit-and-run driver while crossing a street in Venice.

The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was crossing Venice Boulevard near Venezia Avenue about 2 a.m. when he was struck by a eastbound car, possibly a newer-model Toyota Corolla, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Firefighters pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Detectives with the LAPD's West Traffic Division asked anyone with information that could help them track down the vehicle and identify the suspect to call them at (213) 473-0234.

After-hours and weekend called should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222- TIPS.
