Needles, Medical Supplies Wash Ashore On Venice Beach

Parts of the beach have been closed as authorities investigate the "large amount" of supplies that appeared on the sand Sunday morning.

VENICE, CA — Parts of Venice Beach have been closed to the public as authorities investigate a "large amount" of medical supplies, including needles, that appeared along the shoreline Sunday morning.

LAFD lifeguards spotted the equipment around 11:30 a.m., along the shore south of the Venice Beach pier. The source of the supplies wasn't known, authorities said.

The area will be closed off as authorities continue to clean up and investigate the incident.
