Scenic Ocean View Farms Community Garden invites Westsiders to a free Organic Gardening Workshop on Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m.,
Christy Wilhelmi, author of Gardening for Geeks and organic gardening consultant will present: “Basic Steps to Successful Organic Gardening: Growing More Vegetables in Less Space, with Less Water.” Ocean View Farms is located on the hillside overlooking the Santa Monica Bay at the intersection of S. Centinela and Rose Avenues in West Los Angeles.

Christy has served on Ocean View Farms’ Board of Directors since 1999, has studied Grow Biointensive gardening at John Jeavons’ Ecology Action institute,and is the creator of Gardenerd.com, where she publishes a monthly newsletter, blog post and podcasts she currently teaches Organic Gardening extension courses at Santa Monica College and lectures at various venues around Southern California.

Christy Wilhelmi specializes in small-space, organic vegetable garden design and consulting. The author teaches organic gardening extension courses at Santa Monica College and co-taught organic gardening at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur.
Nearly 80 percent of her family’s produce comes from her garden of less than 200 square feet. Her writing has been published in From Scratch Magazine; Edible Los Angeles & Edible Westside magazines; LowImpactLiving.com; and the “Mar Vista Farmers’ Market Wrap-Up” for Patch.com. Christy has appeared as a guest a number of television shows, including the Emmy nominated “Home and Family Show;” KCAL 9 News; and “Good Food” with Chef Evan Kleiman.
