Personnel Changes and Property Developments in Venice
News and notes for Wednesday, June 22, 2011.

The weather in Venice has been good and getting better. Wednesday is supposed to be mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the 70s.
There will be a presentation at 7 p.m. on Wednesday on a proposed development at 522 S. Venice Ave. Kalnel Gardens plans to put a 12 "small-lot, single-family townhouses" on the location, which previously held a church. You can RSVP to this meeting at LJ@Kalnel.com. The meeting will be at the Bible Tabernacle, 1761 Washington Way. See you there!
The Abbot Kinney Memorial Branch Library has a new acting senior librarian, Karen Pickard-Four, who started on Tuesday. Stop by and say hello! Venice's librarian for the previous 28 years, Lucille Cappas, . Cappas was honored at the Venice Neighborhood Council meeting on Tuesday night.

Also at that meeting, Steve Traeger was elected as the newest member of the Land Use and Planning Committee of the council. Traeger is an almost 10-year resident of Venice, and an urban designer for the City of Santa Monica. He replaces former LUPC member Karen Woolf, who resigned.
The VNC also took the opportunity to offer its support to a proposed mixed use project at 542 Rose Ave. The currently empty lot is slated to become two condominiums and a restaurant.
