Photographer Donates 95 Iconic Celebrity Pics to Veterans Home in West L.A.
Besides James Dean, the center will receive portraits of Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Marlon Brando and more.

As part of Phil Stern’s 95th birthday celebration, the legendary photographer is donating 95 iconic photographs from his collection of World War II, pictures and portraits of Hollywood legends to the Veteran’s Home of California in West L.A.
Among them are photographs of James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Marlon Brando, Audrey Hepburn, and countless jazz greats, such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Art Tatum and Ella Fitzgerald.
On view from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Veteran’s Home, 11500 Nimitz Ave, will be a six-minute trailer of “Phil Stern: Eyewitness”, a documentary of his life, along with a screening of the 50-minute Italian documentary, “Phil Stern: Sicily 1943, The War and the Soul,” produced for the 70th anniversary of the Sicily Invasion in 2013.

Director Brett Ratner and Gisele Schmidt from Fahey/Klein Gallery, will help honor Stern’s remarkable career.
