Police Kill Pit Bull, Women Grazed by Bullet on Venice Beach

A dog was shot by police and killed at the beach in Venice and a round struck a woman in a leg as she pedaled by, police say.

VENICE, CA - A dog was shot by police and killed at the beach in Venice Friday and a round struck a woman in a leg as she pedaled past the scene on a bicycle.

The shooting occurred about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Ocean Front Walk and Rose Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A woman and a dog were struck by rounds, police said.

The dog, a pit bull that was with a group of transients, was killed and the woman was conscious and alert when taken to a hospital, according to reports from the scene.
