Power Outage Affects Thousands In Venice, Marina Del Rey

The power outage began Sunday evening and continued into Monday morning, affecting thousands of Department of Water and Power customers.

VENICE, CA — Thousands were left powerless in Venice and Marina Del Rey overnight as Department of Water and Power crews worked to solve the problem.

The power outage began Sunday evening and continued to affect 1,820 Los Angeles Department of Water & Power customers in Venice and Marina del Rey Monday morning, according to an LADWP spokesman said. Originally, 2,900 customers were affected at around 10 p.m. Sunday, but about a 1,100 got their power turned back on by morning.

The remaining customers were expected to get their power back by noon, an LADWP spokesman said.

It was unclear what caused the outage, said department spokesman Michael Ventre.
