Redondo Woman Shot in South Bay Standoff Dies, Boyfriend Charged with Murder
A young woman shot in the head during a domestic dispute died Thursday, and the father of her 8-month-old baby is accused of murder.

A woman who was shot in the head during an apparent domestic dispute in Redondo Beach died today at a hospital, and her alleged killer -- her 8-month-old child’s father -- was in custody.
The shooting was reported at a home in the 2500 block of Graham Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Redondo Beach police Lt. Joe Hoffman said.
Roy Rodriguez Jr., 22, of Redondo Beach, was arrested following a half- hour standoff with authorities.

The woman, identified by police as 20-year-old Paige Chiarello, died at a hospital about 3:30 a.m., said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Police said Chiarello and Rodriguez had been dating and had an 8-month- old child.

Following his arrest, Rodriguez was initially booked on suspicion of attempted murder and he was held in lieu of $500,000 million bail, Hoffman said. When Chiarello died, he was re-booked on suspicion of murder and the bail was set at $2 million, police said.
