2 Area Hikers Rescued In Separate Sunday Incidents

One suffered leg and shoulder injuries, and other hit with heat-related trauma. Take care out there!

BRENTWOOD, CA --- An injured hiker needed an airlift rescue, and a second hiker needed emergency hydration, in Brentwood Sunday.

Around noon, it was reported that a man suffered a leg and shoulder injury in the 4000 block of Sullivan Fire Road in Sullivan Canyon Park, said Los Angeles Fire spokesman Erik Scott.

He was hospitalized with serious injuries, Scott said.

About 20 minutes later, firefighters rescued a 65-year-old woman suffering from heat exhaustion at 2612 Westridge Road in Brentwood, Scott said.

He reminded hikers to stay on designated trails, avoid hiking at peak temperatures of the day, hike in groups and to keep hydrated.
