SANTA MONICA, CA — The beach bicycle path reopened Friday in Santa Monica, Venice and Marina del Rey as beaches are now open for active use across Los Angeles County.

"Bike paths on our LA County beaches have been reopened! But keeping them open depends on you and responsible behavior," Supervisor Sheila Kuhl announced Thursday.

Crews had blocked the path with sand and barricades when Los Angeles County started its stay-at-home order over six weeks ago.

"The portions of the Marvin Braude Bike Trail that run along the beach are closed to everyone during this first phase of beach reopenings," Nicole Mooradian, Public Information Officer from the County of Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors, told Patch.

"The sand and barricades will be removed when the bike path reopens. We don’t have an exact timeline for when that will happen—and, ultimately, the decision will be made by the Department of Public Health—but we expect it will be at least six weeks from now," Mooradian told Patch via email.
